Man Of Steel

So, it's been a while since I've last posted and A LOT has happened over the past few months. So that's why I'm writing this entry now. Of course Henry Cavill is Superman/Clark Kent unlike Tom Welling! Anyway, Amy Adams has been cast as Lois Lane, ace reporter for the Daily Planet, a great metropolitan newspaper. As the man of steel's parents we have Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent and Diane Lane as Martha Kent. I honestly don't think they could have been cast any better. Russell Crowe will be playing the role of Jor-El and Julia Ormond will be playing the role of Lara; Superman's Kryptonian parents. Harry Lennix will be a US military general named Gen. Swanwick and Christopher Meloni from Law and Order: Special Victims Unit fame will be playing Colonel Hardy. Michael Shannon will be playing General Zod and Antje Traue will take on the role of Faora, Zod's right hand woman. And last but not least, as of right now anyway, Laurence Fishburne will be playing the editor in chief of the Daily Planet and Lois and Clark's boss...Perry White. Now, some people have a problem with a black man portraying a character that has been white for over 70 years. I don't have a problem with it myself. I love Laurence Fishburne's work and think he will make a excellent Perry White. The other cast members are just as equally amazing, such as Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Ma and Pa Kent. Also, the LOOOOONG awaited photo of Henry Cavill as Superman is here!!! On a side of bad news, we all have to wait almost 2 years for the movie to come out seeing as the release date was bumped from December 2012 to June 14th, 2013. But I'm sure the movie will be worth the wait! I hope to update regularly as filming is now underway!

Man of Music

Is Tyler Bates set to compose the music for Superman: Man of Steel? According to IMDb he is. Which for me is good news. I have enjoyed Bates' music and would seem like a no brainer since he is a frequent collaborator with Zack Snyder who is directing the newest Superman movie. Now the question that rests in my head is this: Will Tyler Bates come up with his own theme song for Superman and possibly ruin the franchise in the eyes of many fanboys, myself included, or will he rework, and reinvigorate the classic John Williams "Superman March"? My hope is for the latter obviously. John Williams' Superman score is a classic in the eyes of many and could be considered the greatest movie theme ever written! To me and a countless many others the Superman theme literally says "SUPERMAN!". Some people say that it's old and dated and with the film being a reboot it should separate itself from all Superman movies past. I disagree. Sure it's a reboot, but the theme has become a part of that character...not just the film franchise. What are your ideas on the Superman theme? Keep it? Rework it? Change it all together? Let me know!

Henry Cavill as SUPERMAN!!!

So this has just been announced today that Henry Cavill will take over the role of superhero Superman from previous lead actor, Brandon Routh. Now how the rest of the cast is going to shape out and what his costume will look like are still resting in the minds of fans everywhere...

Morris in Clemson

Well, today at around 1pm Chad Morris made it to South Carolina, ate lunch in Anderson and made his way to Clemson to the WestZone, met his new running backs coach, Tony Elliott as he moved into his office and apparently signed his contract. I'm still kinda iffy on whether or not he is the right man to lead our offense, but I'm willing to give him a shot. I'm also not to certain of the hiring of a wide receiver to coach running backs. I'm not sure what Dabo is thinking hiring all these inexperienced coaches but he's the head coach and gets paid to make the mistakes.

I hope Clemson has success under Chad Morris like Tulsa did. 16 years as a Texas high school head coach still isn't all that impressive to me but I'm willing to give this guy a shot to prove himself to the Clemson faithful. Only time will tell if this guy can produce the desired wins Clemson wants or if he's gonna be a major bust...which unfortunately is what I think is going to happen.

Chad Morris to Clemson

Ok, so this isn't in the slightest way Superman related but it's my blog so who cares. Tulsa offensive coordinator Chad Morris has supposedly been hired by Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney Sunday morning. Morris has one year of college coaching experience and several year of coaching in the Texas high school system. The guy has great numbers but will he be able to re-create those numbers at a high profile school in a high profile conference??? Tune in in September to find out...

New Name, New Look...Still Sick

Since I can't really get up and go anywhere due to the fact I'm sick and feel miserable I decided to change the look of my blog. I', still working on it as it is a work in progress...if anyone has any suggestions please feel free to toss them my way...I'm always open to constructive criticism. I'm not exactly why I didn't think of this before but "The Daily Planet" seem like a fitting name for my blog, although I will more than likely not be posting on a daily basis. But we do have some news on the movie front actually.

It seems that Superman: The Man of Steel could be filming in Chicago starting in August 22, 2011 through April 2012. There will be a break for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Post-Production starts in May and will continue through November in time for a mid to late December release. They will start filming a scene in Smallville for 40 days for 4 scenes, including a homecoming scene (not exactly what type of homecoming), a unreleased scene, the discovery of Clark's ship and Johnathan Kent's funeral.

There will also be a scene from the Middle East and supposedly a West Africa scene while Clark is out discovering himself. Shooting then moves to the UK for interior shoots mainly revolving around the Daily Planet. None of this has been confirmed or denied by Warner Brothers or Legendary Pictures. As more information surfaces or pops up on the internet I'll be sure to post it as it comes along. So until next time....up, up, and away!
